结绳就是金童和玉女结婚了(如图15-2,3,和4),两人的生命线拧成了一根绳,即上帝造人的主题线索。这根绳就是传说中的那根法绳,不长不短,可以串联起人生所需的全部知识。本书中,这根绳就是太阳石历内环的20个事件构成的(如图5)。

“Twist into a Rope” symbolizes the marriage of the Golden Boy and the Jade Girl (as shown in Figures 15-2, 3, and 4), their lifelines intertwined into a single rope, representing the central theme line of God's creation of humanity. This rope is the legendary magic rope, neither too long nor too short, capable of connecting all the knowledge needed for life. In this book, this rope is composed of the 20 events within the inner ring of the Sunstone Calendar (as shown in Figure 5).

15.1 上帝预示着不吉祥 God means Inauspicious

蜂鸟飞过墨西哥(又名金童,阿兹特兰,老猴,特拉洛克)的身边,他立刻变得不安了。据传说这时对墨西哥来说, 蜂鸟象征着上帝左翼蜂鸟(Huitzilopochtli,如图15.4-35),意味着不吉祥,为什么?因为墨西哥的精神病已经引发了很多身体上的疾病,而治疗他的精神病的关键是让无意识(即神识)收到他和卡特莉(又名翠玉女)结婚的现量(参见9.6 《治疗心理疾病的秘诀》 )。这时,墨西哥已经回来多月了,和卡特莉婚事却毫无进展,他感觉蜂鸟的出现是左翼蜂鸟在催促他采取更多的行动。

As a hummingbird flew past Mexico (aka. Gold Boy, Aztlan, Old Monkey, and Tlaloc), he immediately became uneasy. According to legend, at this time, for Mexico, the hummingbird symbolized God Hummingbird of the Left (Huitzilopochtli, as shown in fig. 15.4-35), signifying inauspiciousness. Why? Because Mexico's mental illness had caused many physical ailments, and the key to curing his mental illness was to allow his unconscious (i.e., God-sense) to receive the Present-Quantity of his marriage to Tlaltecuhtli (aka. Chalchiuhtlicue, refer to 9.6 Key to Treating Mental Illness). By this time, Mexico had been back for several months, but his marriage to Tlaltecuhtli had made no progress. He felt that the hummingbird's appearance was Huitzilopochtli, urging him to take more action.

Figures 36, 37, and 38 illustrate Mexico's analysis of why Tlaltecuhtli  (also known as Chalchiuhtlicue) ignores him. Figure 36 shows Tlaltecuhtli at this point as a prisoner of greed and irritation. Chalchiuhtlicue stands to one side in shackles. The serpent-like, crocodile-like monster seated on the throne represents Tlaltecuhtli's greed and irritation. The serpent represents greed, and the crocodile represents irritation.

Figure 38 depicts a naked woman on trial, suggesting that Tlaltecuhtli fears Mexico will impeach her for her affair with Cowboy after she relinquishes the throne.

图37是墨西哥想起了谷伯讲过的一个故事。东方大陆有一个名叫中东的地区,历史上出现了一位伟大的上帝,名叫安拉。他造出了一对人名叫须弥颅和苦芭芭(即亚当和夏娃)。他们的后人称呼这俩人为猪爷爷驴奶奶。据说他们俩的后人穆斯林都不吃猪肉和驴肉就是因为这个。安拉的女儿苦芭芭(即佛教中的观音菩萨)说她自己是驴。

Figure 37 depicts a story Mexico recalled that Uncle Maize had once told. On the Eastern Continent, there is a region called the Middle East, where a great God named Allah appeared in history. He created a pair of humans named Sumeru and Kubaba (that is, Adam and Eve). Their descendants referred to these two as "Grandpa Pig and Grandma Donkey." It is said that this is why their descendants, the Muslims, do not eat pork or donkey meat. Allah’s daughter, Kubaba (who corresponds to the Bodhisattva Guanyin in Buddhism), claimed that she herself was a donkey.

谷伯说,驴子以顽固著称,无论出于何种原因,强迫或吓唬驴子做它认为危险的事情都非常困难;如果赢得了它的信任,它可以成为非常可靠的伙伴。

墨西哥(即亚当)想明白了,卡特莉(即夏娃)不会把王位让给自己;那么如何取得卡特莉的信任呢?

Uncle Maize explained that donkeys are known for their stubbornness. It's very difficult to force or frighten a donkey into doing something it deems dangerous, for any reason. However, if you earn its trust, it can become a very reliable companion. 

Mexico (aka. Adam) realized that Tlaltecuhtli (aka. Eve) wouldn't give him the throne; so how could he gain Tlaltecuhtli's trust?

15.2 四沙门果 Four Shamanic Fruits

墨西哥的传说,一天墨西哥看见一只鹰叼着一条蛇落在了一棵仙人掌上(如图39),就想出了解决他和卡特莉困局的方法。这里我们来研究一下这幅墨西哥国旗上的图案是什么意思。

According to Mexican legend, one day Mexico saw an eagle carrying a snake land on a cactus (as shown in Figure 39), and he devised a way to solve his and Tlaltecuhtli's predicament. Here, we will examine the meaning of the pattern on this Mexican flag.

图案中的基石象征着青松石王。那株仙人掌代表生命之树。仙人掌的五片叶子代表生命之树的五蕴。仙人掌结出了三颗果实,代表四沙门果(参见14.2.5节)中的前三果。此前三果就代表此时的墨西哥,代表中土(纳瓦特语 特诺奇蒂特兰,Tenochtitlan,如图33,41)。

The bedding rock in the pattern symbolizes King Turquoise. The cactus represents the Tree of Life (see Figure 42, bottom). The cactus's five leaves represent the five nodes of the Tree of Life. The cactus bears three fruits, representing the first three of the four shamanic fruits (see Section 14.2.5). These first three fruits represent Mexico at this time, representing Middle Earth (Tenochtitlan in Nahuatl, as shown in Figure 33). 

那只鹰(或凤凰)代表卡特莉。蛇代表贪婪。如果卡特莉吃下了(消灭了)贪婪,就浴火重生,成为了阿罗汉果圣人,就成为了生命之树的第四棵果实,阿罗汉果。阿罗汉果的标志物就是在墨西哥发现的许多巨型石头像,中国人称作和尚头,又作罗汉山,金刚山。

The eagle (or phoenix) represents Tlaltecuhtli. The snake represents greed. If Tlaltecuhtli consumes (eliminates) greed, she will be reborn from the ashes and become an Ararat, the fourth fruit of the Tree of Life. The symbol of Arahat fruit is the many giant stone heads found in Mexico, which the Chinese call monk heads, or Mount Arahat, or Philosopher-stone Mountain.

15.3 忏悔的盗贼 Confessing Thief

一天,墨西哥在众中说法。突然,一个人从群众中战战兢兢地走到了他跟前,请求宽恕和收留。众人不理解,让他把事情说清楚,说不定还会在墨西哥那里帮他说好话。来投降的人说,十几天前,有几个人付给他很多黄金,让他来这庙里偷东西。刚来这里时,他就发现特拉洛克(即墨西哥,老猴儿,金童)知道他来干什么,却装作不知道,对他像似对待空气一样(注1)。

注1,这是墨西哥的触目的功能(参见3.2节),看见墨西哥的人总认为他什么都知道。

One day, Mexico was speaking in front of a crowd. Suddenly, a man approached him timidly from the crowd, begging for forgiveness and shelter. The crowd was puzzled and urged him to explain himself, suggesting they might even intercede on his behalf with Mexico. The man who had come to surrender said that a few days earlier, several people had paid him a large sum of gold to come to this temple and steal something. Upon arriving here, he noticed that Tlaloc (i.e., Mexico, Old Monkey, Gold Boy) knew why he had come but pretended not to know, treating him as if he were invisible (Note 1).  

Note 1: This is one of Mexico's functions of Touch Eyes (see Section 3.2). Those who see Mexico always assume he knows everything.

众人继续问,盗贼继续说:“每次遇见特拉洛克,他一看我,我就感觉像是被电击了一次,心中就更加充满了恐惧;但我还是认真地研究,并且搜查了所有他停留过的地方。我发现他只有三件半衣服和一个碗;其它的,他什么都没有,连一根多余的线都没有。这两天,我终于想明白了为什么特拉洛克看我像看空气一样:我既不能离开也不能留在这里,我已经死了!”

The crowd continued to ask questions, and the thief continued, “Every time I encountered Tlaloc, as soon as he looked at me, I felt like I had been electrocuted, and my heart was filled with even more fear; but I still studied him carefully and searched all the places he had stayed.” I found he had only three and a half garments and a bowl; nothing else, not even a single extra thread. These past two days, I finally understood why Tlaloc looked at me as if I were air: I cannot leave nor stay here—I am already dead!"

旁观人问:“他们让你来偷什么东西?”

盗贼回答:“特拉洛克都知道!”

问的人回答:“他知道,我们不知道,怎么帮你向他求情!”

A bystander asked, “What did they ask you to steal?”

The thief replied, “Tlaloc knows!”

The questioner replied, “He knows, but we don't. How can we help you plead with him?”

盗贼说:“他们说,那东西叫墨西(注2),可能是打神鞭,也可能是捆绑书的线绳,也可能就是天书。让我来偷的那帮人也不知道那东西具体是什么。他们说,特拉洛克一个人来到我们纳瓦特尔国,还要当我们的国王,他肯定有很特别的东西!可我观察搜索了半个月,除了三件半衣服和一个碗,别的,他什么都没有。”

注2,墨西(Mexi)的那瓦特尔语本义为 “这就是;就这”。本故事中,墨西是插图15牌坊右端的那根线,是青松石王用来钓特拉洛克的渔线。

The thief said, "They say that thing is called Mexi (Note 2), it might be a Beating God Whip, or it might be the string used to bind books, or it might just be the Skybook. The people who sent me to steal it don't know exactly what it is either. They said that Tlaloc came alone to our Nahuatl kingdom and wanted to be our king, so he must have something very special! But after searching for half a month, all I found were three and a half pieces of clothing and a bowl. Nothing else."

Note 2: In Nahuatl language of Mexi, the original meaning is “this is it; that's it”. In this story, Mexi is the line on the right side of the archway in illustration 15, which is the fishing line used by King Turquoise to catch Tlaloc.

15.4 青松石王的渔线 King Turquoise Fishing Line

墨西哥沉默了很久,说: “因为我不是特拉洛克。”

众人不解。盗贼辩解道:“你怎么不是呢!很多人说青松石王选中了你。几个人认出来了,你就是十几年前在流沙河消失在一棵树上的那个阿兹特兰(参见11节)。人们都看见了,你消失后,几个沙门在那棵树的周围搜索研究了几个月(注1)。”

注1,为什么那些沙门在那棵树的周围搜索了几个月?那是青松石王在造墨西哥之门(参见17节)。

Mexico was silent for a long time, then said, "Because I'm not Tlaloc."

Everyone was puzzled. The thief defended himself, "How could you not be? Many say King Turquoise chose you. Several people have recognized you as the Aztlan who disappeared into a tree in Flowing Sands River over a decade ago (see section 11). People saw you disappear, and several shamans searched and researched the area around that tree for months (Note 1)."

Note 1: Why did the shamans search around that tree for months? That is the Juristic Door to Middle Earth (see 17) that King Turquoise was building.

墨西哥心情沉重地说:“我本是众生河里的一只乌龟(如图43),多年前,无意中吃到了一根金线,咬不断,吃不下,又吐不出来,就拖着金线走(注2)。后来,那根金线越来越重,我拽不动了,就按照原路返回,一边走一边吃,想把金线全部吃掉。我追踪到了五百年前(注,“落难五行山” 被换算成了太阳历500年),到金线的另一端时被青松石王的圣鬼打败了。青松石王说,他欠他女儿翠玉女一个丈夫。我和青松石王约定,我陪他女儿睡1001夜,我们之间的恩怨情仇就全部抵消,所以,我就在这里了。”

Mexico said with a heavy heart, "I was originally a turtle (see Figure 43) in Sentients River. Many years ago, I accidentally ate a goldthread (see Figure 44). Unable to bite it, swallow it, or spit it out, I dragged the thread along with me. Later, the thread grew heavier, and I couldn't pull it anymore. I retraced my steps, eating it as I went, hoping to consume the entire thread. I tracked it down to five hundred years ago (note: "Fall of Five Migrations Mountain" is converted to 500 solar years). When I reached the other end of the thread, I was defeated by King Turquoise’s holy ghost. King Turquoise said he owed his daughter, Chalchiuhtlicue, a husband. King Turquoise and I agreed that if I slept with his daughter for 1,001 nights, all our gratitude, resentment, love and hatred would be erased, and so here I am."

人群骚动了:“他不是特拉洛克!那我们的太阳怎么办?太阳会消失的!”

Note 2: The gold-thread is the fishing line used by King Turquoise for catching Tlaloc, as shown in Figure 11. The face on the hook used as bait represents Chalchiuhtlicue. The smiling, non-biting crescent-shaped face represents Tlaloc. There is no fishing line on the hook; the fishing line is on the right end of Figure 15.

The crowd grew restless: “He's not Tlaloc! What about our sun? The sun will disappear!”

一个人大叫:“肃静!我们的老国王当然不会抓一只普通的乌龟!我听说,龙有九个儿子,其中一个就是只乌龟。不过,这只乌龟就只能实现一个愿望!”

另一个人听明白了,感叹道:“虚惊一场!实际上,我们的问题就只是太阳。它能实现我们的一个愿望就足够了。只要太阳不消失,其它的我们都可以自己解决!”

Someone shouted, “Quiet! Our old king wouldn't capture an ordinary turtle! I heard that the dragon has nine sons, one of whom is a turtle. However, this turtle can only grant one wish!”  

Another person understood and exclaimed, “What a false alarm! In fact, our only problem is the sun. It is enough for it to fulfill one of our wishes. If the sun does not disappear, we can solve everything else ourselves!”
