【注】日落时分，葡萄牙第二大城市波尔图“海港”就像一本从杜罗“金”河(Rio Douro)上缓缓翻开的书本，朴素古老却又富丽堂皇。夕阳把整座城市染成金色——那些杂乱无章的中世纪遗迹中心，那些依山而建的彩色房子，那些横跨河面的钢铁大桥，都在暮色中变得温柔起来。鲜美可口的珍馐佳酿，独具一格的风土人情，无不让这样的匆匆过客赏心悦目。
除了波尔图狭街窄巷交织的历史古城，当代建筑师们也在城市的天际线上留下了他们独特的印记。简约时尚的当代艺术博物馆，以白色的几何线条对话古老的石墙；前卫标志性的音乐厅，像一颗外星来客降落在城市中心。公共艺术随处可见，从装饰地铁的手绘瓷砖，到破旧中世纪墙壁上的街头工艺，艺术不再被锁在博物馆里，而是流淌在每一条街道上。
悠闲早午餐的复古咖啡馆里，阳光透过百叶窗洒在桌布上；创意佩蒂斯科“开胃点心”(Petisco)开胃点心的酷炫小酒馆，总能在深夜留住不愿离去的人群；大西洋鲜鱼价格亲民的塔斯卡“口袋”家庭酒吧(Tasca)，一盘子烤沙丁鱼配上一杯绿酒，就是最地道的波尔图味道。
当然，最不能错过的，是杜罗河谷畔的加强葡萄酒(Fortified Wine)——本地特产“波尔图酒”(Vinho do Porto)。那些将葡萄酒储存在木桶中的酒窖，坐落在对岸的盖亚“大地之神”新城，一排排，一座座，像守护神般俯瞰着河面。波尔图酒不仅是生猛海鲜的最佳搭档，更让吃喝玩乐这件事，从未如此充满刺激。
不得不说，美食时代的波尔图，离不开两家引领葡萄牙新潮流的本帮烧：佩德罗·莱莫斯“磐石·榆树”(Pedro Lemos)餐厅和耶特曼“守门人”酒店餐厅(The Yeatman)。前者以创新的葡萄牙料理闻名，后者则以绝佳的景观和精致的出品，让波尔图继续留守在米其林“神赐”地图上。再有，美食之旅、烹饪授课、橄榄油工作坊、品酒宴会和盖亚巨型港口酒窖等配套服务不遗余力，共同把波尔图打造成欧洲最美味的城市之一。
如同里斯本“附魔港”人被昵称小莴苣(Alfacinhas)，波尔图人的外号则叫“吃牛肚者”(Tripeiros)。这个外号，源于一段历史：14世纪，恩里克王子准备征服休达时，波尔图人献出了所有的肉类给舰队，自己只留下牛肚充饥。从此，波尔图人便与牛肚结下了不解之缘。而波尔图式牛肚杂烩(Tripas à Moda do Oorto)，也确实成了当地最有名的传统美食——白豆、牛肚、各种内脏，加上香料慢炖，浓稠鲜美，一碗下肚，便能感受到这座城市的古老、至尊与忠诚。
1996年，波尔图被联合国教科文组织列为《世界遗产名录》。
