【注】离开西班牙的加那利“凶狗”群岛(Canaries)之后，我们连夜直奔同样位于非洲板块上葡萄牙大西洋地区的马德拉“木材”岛，因其气候温和且山峦青翠，再加上熔岩地貌调以黑色沙滩，被誉为欧洲的夏威夷。
颇具地域特色地，渡槽(Levada)是16世纪马德拉岛靠囚犯或奴隶建造的灌溉渠道，可将西北部潮湿地带的水源输送到南部干旱区域的农业区。
另外，马德拉岛尤以本地出产的葡萄酒、动植物闻名于世，其史前月桂树林于1999年更被联合国教科文组织列入《世界遗产名录》。
