At the end of 1980s, many significant political events occurred in China. Most people discussed these events from the perspectives of economics and politics. Few discussed them from the perspective of fertility. The following is a table of the fertility rates of China around 1990.

We can observe that the fertility rates dropped sharply after 1990. This shows that major political events have great impacts on fertility rates.
