U.S. presidential and midterm elections are a mechanism of self-correction in social governance, rooted in life’s self-organization, dynamic equilibrium, and intersubjective symbiosis.
This has long been a normal feature of American politics. Clinton and Obama both experienced it. Now it is Trump’s turn—perhaps simply a correction of previous corrections!
Trump, Republicans, and Democrats alike must reflect on the present and future. As ancient Chinese wisdom teaches: “Harmony gives rise to life; uniformity cannot sustain it,” and “The greatest virtue of Heaven and Earth is to give life; the greatest treasure of a sage is the position he holds.”
Each side must now find its proper place, move beyond entrenched ideological conventions, do what needs to be done, and make a fresh start!
Let the self-righteous spectators, who mistake wrong for right, indulge in their own triumphalism!
Trump’s Common-Sense New Deal also has a chance to catch its breath. Reforms need time to take hold; achievements need room to grow and bear fruit.
After more than a year of intensive reform, now is the time to ask: What has genuinely improved ordinary people’s lives and unleashed human vitality? What organizational costs and social consequences still need correcting? The governing team, too, needs breathing room to identify blind spots and correct course.
Let the gains of common-sense reform take root, mature, and prove their worth.
As the saying goes, “Take a step back, and a wider world opens up!” https://www.amorsophia.com/article/10406
