【注】极富魔力的绿地村曾经拥有纽约市最大的非裔群体，后来随着德国、法国、爱尔兰以及紧邻中国城的意大利移民进驻，逐渐改变了这一地区政治与文化格局。华盛顿广场正处于绿地村中央，纽约市第一个社区组织正是为了创立华盛顿广场公园而建，从地理的角度上来说，该公园恰好介于第五大道富裕阶层和曼哈顿下城贫困领地之间。
