The company’s researchers found hate speech spiked by 300% amid bloody riots, and that Indian users held the company responsible for failing to prevent or police it. Facebook has traced some of the stream of hate to influential entities tied to India’s ruling government but hasn’t taken action amid concerns about “political sensitivities.”
